Introduction:
The digital transformation is the result the world needing and wanting more data/information. Moving from the industrial revolution into the age where information is everything has propelled many industries into great success and innovation. The drone industry has been on the forefront of this revolution and has seen many advancements over the years. As more information is being requested, a more efficient and safe method of collecting data saw the rise of drones. Drones have the capability to collect information at an incredible rate and then process that date for use in various operations such as building inspections, disaster sensing, and even smaller industries like real estate. However, the ability of drones to perform this role did not come just by inventing toys. There were many components that led to this type of advancement.
Big Data/Cloud Based Computing
Big data and cloud based computing has allowed drones to collect an immense amount of data and the ability to use this data for different operations. The largest problem with drones has always been the need to fly for long distances/time, collect information, and process that information all during flight. With the advancements in big data and cloud based computing, this information can now be uploaded to an offsite cloud and be stored/processed without having to use the drone for computing. Cloud based computing has been pushed by the drone industry and vice versa and have allowed both to see advancements over the years. These advancements have made drones a useful and efficient options in many operations like disaster sensing where large amounts of data must be collected and processed without losing time.
